PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota Announces Fall Concert Series

The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota, under the direction of Sarah Aamot-Lundin, will present their Fall 2008 Concert Series, entitled Deep Peace, on Saturday, November 8, at Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake (7:30 pm); Sunday, November 9, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls (4:00 pm); and Tuesday, November 11, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter (7:30 pm).

In honor of Veterans Day, military veterans will be admitted free of charge at all three performances, as will students under the age of 18.  Admission for non-veteran adults and seniors is $10.00.   Tickets can be purchased in advance from Chorale members; at the Brainerd Dispatch; at Great River Arts Association in Little Falls; at Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake ; by calling Bob Nelson, Legacy Chorale Manager, at 218-820-6034 or 888-899-6034; by email at legacychorale@charter.net; or at the door of each concert.

Deep Peace will consist of three sets of choral music, both a cappella and accompanied, that describe musically the journey towards peace.  Repertoire includes choral classics such as Duruflé’s “Ubi Caritas;” William Byrd’s “I Will Not Leave You Comfortless;” and three songs from Randall Thompson’s Frostiana—“The Road Not Taken,” “Come In,” and “Choose Something Like a Star.”  Also included on the program is a set of patriotic tunes -- “We Are Coming, Father Abra’am,” “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye,” “In Flanders Fields,” and Battle Hymn of the Republic” – during which military veterans and their families will be recognized.  In keeping with The Legacy Chorale’s tradition, a set of folk songs and spirituals will end the concert:  “Ain’t Got Time to Die,” “Gonna Rise Up in the Kingdom,” “Peace in the Valley,” “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” and Moses Hogan’s rousing arrangement of “Music Down in My Soul.”  The Legacy Chorale’s accompanist is Laura Raedeke of Nisswa.

The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota, now in its seventh season, is a Non-Profit organization created by Artistic Director Sarah Aamot-Lundin in the fall of 2001.  The group’s mission is “to ensure the legacy of excellence in choral music in the greater Minnesota area while enriching, inspiring and renewing the communities in which we live.”  Currently there are 65 singers in the Legacy Chorale representing 14 greater Minnesota communities:  Aitkin, Baxter, Brainerd, Breezy Point, Crosby, Crosslake, Deerwood, East Gull Lake , Hackensack , Lakeshore, Little Falls, Merrifield, Nisswa, and Pequot Lakes .  The Legacy Chorale has held performances in Brainerd, Baxter, Little Falls, Wadena, St. Cloud , Aitkin, Crosby, Pequot Lakes , Crosslake, Staples, and Perham.
