Deep Peace will
consist of three sets of choral music, both a cappella and accompanied,
that describe musically the journey towards peace.
Repertoire includes choral classics such as Duruflé’s “Ubi
Caritas;” William Byrd’s “I
Will Not Leave You Comfortless;” and
three songs from Randall Thompson’s Frostiana—“The
Road Not Taken,” “Come In,” and
“Choose Something Like a Star.” Also
included on the program is a set of patriotic tunes -- “We
Are Coming, Father Abra’am,” “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye,” “In
Flanders Fields,” and “
Battle
Hymn of the Republic” – during which military veterans and their
families will be recognized. In
keeping with The Legacy Chorale’s tradition, a set of folk songs and
spirituals will end the concert: “Ain’t Got Time to Die,” “Gonna Rise Up in the Kingdom,”
“Peace in the Valley,” “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” and
Moses Hogan’s rousing arrangement of “Music
Down in My Soul.” The
Legacy Chorale’s accompanist is Laura Raedeke of Nisswa.
