FAQ

Keeping music alive in Brainerd Schools!

Q: How much money needs to be raised to ensure that the quality music education that Brainerd has been renown for can continue for the following school year?

A: The solution is to raise $100,000 as quickly as possible to retain these directors and ultimately to have enough music staff at the middle school to maintain our quality music program.

Q: Where do I send my check?

A: We would appreciate it if you would send a check as soon as possible to: Music Matters P.O. Box 234 Brainerd, MN 56401

Q: What happens if the $100,000 is not met?

A: We are hoping for a generous response from the community but we are holding the checks in a special account at the above address until the drive is completed and we have met our goal. Only then will we deposit all of the checks in the Brainerd Public School Foundation to be given to the district for the above mentioned budget cuts.

Q: I don't have the money right now but I would love to help once I receive my tax refund or my "stimulus check". Can I pledge my money now and pay when I receive that money?

A: Pledges are fine if people are waiting for tax rebates to contribute but since it is the eleventh hour checks would be preferred. Pledges should be sent ASAP to the same address. All donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt.

Q: It was my understanding that any money donated to the district had to go into the general fund? How is Music Matters! able to get around this?

A: Music Matters! will be depositing it's money into a fund within the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation. Once our goal is met, a committee (chosen from Music Matters!) will determine how this money will be used. This committee will use the money to fund the music department deficiencies.
