MUSIC MATTERS welcomes Chris Fogderud, newly hired band director at BHS.

Christopher Fogderud received his B.A. in Music Education from Gustavus Adolphus College and is currently in his first year as the Director of Bands at Brainerd High School. There he conducts the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, and 9th Grade Band at the South Campus. Mr. Fogderud has also taught 6th through 9th grade bands in the Wayzata School District and student taught at South High School and Field Community School, both in Minneapolis. He has also directed the Sleepy Hollow Summer Theater Pit Orchestra for their 2007 Season in his hometown of Bismarck, North Dakota.
During his time at Gustavus he was president and principle trumpet of the Gustavus Wind Orchestra along with section leader in the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, Gustavus Jazz Lab Band and the Christ Chapel Brass. He is also a Gustavus Concerto Competition Winner and a Senior Honors Recital Participant. Other musical memberships include the Minnesota Symphonic Winds and the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra. He is also an aspiring composer and had his first full work, "Prairie Winds," premiered by the Bismarck Century High School Wind Ensemble in May of 2008.
Mr. Fogderud is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda (Music) and Kappa Delta Pi (Education) National Honor Societies and holds membership in the Music Educators National Conference and the Minnesota Music Educators Association.
Apart from music, Mr. Fogderud enjoys golfing, baking pies, watching movies (the older, the better) and spending time with his wonderful wife, Sarah.
